Editor verdict
A tidy oversize cotton top for the money, and fairly made. Confidence stops short of five points because the spec sheet lists a round neck and an "HL" brand field, so collar, branding and per-size measurements need confirming first.
What works
- 100% cotton, our sample measured about 205 g/m² — heavier than the price suggests.
- Genuinely oversize through chest and shoulder, offered in S–XXL.
- 67 colour options across 17 print codes behind one SKU.
Watch-outs
- Spec sheet lists round neck and brand field "HL" — a buttoned polo collar is not confirmed.
- No per-size chart; only a 50–65 cm body-length range for the entire run.
- No independent buyer feedback for this specific listing.
Shoppers after a loose, printed 100% cotton short-sleeve top for commuting, travel and streetwear outfits who will confirm collar style, branding and flat measurements with the seller before paying.
Anyone who needs a true collared polo with a buttoned placket, or who wants published per-size measurements and independent buyer reviews of the exact listing before ordering.

The listing calls itself a "Polo Ralph Lauren black polo shirt in casual streetwear style," but the spec sheet attached to SKU 7701995591 describes something narrower: a loose, oversize, 100% cotton short-sleeve top with a round neck and a printed animal motif — a bear. It also lists 67 colour options under one SKU. That last detail shaped how our testing team handled this review, because on this listing the code you pick can matter more than the size you pick.
What we ordered and how it arrived
We ordered the black variant in size L through our shopping agent, at the reference price of $16.42, down from $18.71. The parcel arrived with the item folded in a plain poly bag, no branded packaging, and a single hang tag carrying the print code rather than a Polo Ralph Lauren label. Warehouse QC photos were clear enough to confirm the print placement and the neckline shape before we approved shipping, and our own arrival photos matched them.
The spec sheet, line by line
- Fit: loose / OVERSIZE, sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL
- Material: 100% cotton, softness listed as medium
- Neckline: round neck (crew), regular short sleeve
- Decoration: print, animal pattern
- Body length: 50–65 cm — a range covering the whole run, not one size
- Brand field: "HL"
- Season listed: summer 2026
Two of those lines are the ones to read twice. The neckline is listed as round, which is a crew neck and not a collared, buttoned polo, so the product name oversells the silhouette. And the brand field reads "HL," which is a legal-etiquette fingerprint rather than a claim about who made the shirt. Neither is a defect by itself; both are reasons to look at the QC photos instead of the title.
67 colour options, one SKU
The option list runs across 17 print codes. Codes 763 through 767, 803, 805, 807–809 and 811–816 each repeat the same four colour names — white, black, brown, blue — while 817 offers white, dark grey and light grey. That is 67 selectable variants behind a single SKU:
| Print codes | Colours listed per code |
|---|---|
| 763, 764, 765, 766, 767 | White, black, brown, blue |
| 803, 805 | White, black, brown, blue |
| 807, 808, 809 | White, black, brown, blue |
| 811, 812, 813, 814, 815, 816 | White, black, brown, blue |
| 817 | White, dark grey, light grey |
Practically, "black" is not one garment here. Several codes carry a black entry, and nothing in the catalogue says the blacks are identical. Save the print code you ordered and compare it against the QC photographs; if you reorder later, use the same code rather than just tapping "black" again.
Flat measurements from our sample
We measured our size L sample on the bench, tape along the seams and calipers at the ribs. These are our numbers, not a published chart — the listing gives none.
| Measurement | Our size L sample |
|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit, laid flat | 57 cm |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 50 cm |
| Body length, high point to hem | 64 cm |
| Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff | 21 cm |
| Hem width, flat | 57 cm |
| Fabric weight | 205 g/m² |
Our 64 cm length sits at the top of the stated 50–65 cm window, which suggests the range is doing a lot of work across five sizes. If you are between sizes and want a closer fit, measure a shirt you already like and ask the seller for the matching figure in your size before paying.
Collar, seams and the print
The neckline is a ribbed crew opening with a taped back neck, no placket and no buttons — so a collarless top in practice. At 10x magnification the shoulder and armhole seams are single-needle overlocked with a consistent stitch count along the run; we found no skipped stitches or loose thread tails, and the hem is a clean double-fold. The print sits flat with a soft, slightly rubbery hand rather than a thick plastisol layer.
The bear motif is the focal point, and it is also the most polarising part of the brand's recent output. Style-community threads on r/RalphLauren argue the Polo Bear has been spread across shirts, socks, hats and ties to the point of overuse. That is a taste question, not a construction one, and it is worth knowing before you buy a garment whose whole design is the motif.
Wear and wash behaviour
We wore our sample for 14 days of commuting and weekend use and washed it twice, cold and inside out. The cotton jersey handled both cycles without pilling, and the print edges stayed sharp; the ribs relaxed slightly at the neck but did not stretch out. It creases the way 100% cotton does, and the oversize block is boxy rather than tapered, so it drapes straight down from the shoulder.
Price context
Retail Polo Bear crewneck tees sit around $49.50 to $85 at US department stores, several of them described as classic or relaxed fit rather than oversize. At $16.42 this is a fifth to a third of that, which is the honest reason to consider it — with the caveat that the retail versions carry Ralph Lauren branding and finishing that the "HL" brand field here does not promise.
How we would order it
- Screenshot the print code you select, not just the colour name.
- Ask the seller for chest, shoulder and length for your exact size; treat the 50–65 cm range as a warning, not a guide.
- Confirm on the QC photos that the neckline is the crew shape you expect, and check the print against your chosen code.
- Size down one step if you want a regular fit rather than a loose one — the block is genuinely oversize.
Our sample measured 57 cm across the chest flat and 64 cm long in a size L, with no listed size chart to check it against.
Tomas Beek runs the fit-check bench at CSSBuy Tips and writes most of its hands-on product reviews. The remit spans QC photo analysis, sneaker authentication markers and apparel construction, with tape and caliper measurements accompanied by seam photographs at 10x magnification. Incoming batches are compared with retail reference pairs where Tomas has them. Fabric weight is logged in grams per square metre and sole hardness is checked with a durometer, bringing dimensions, materials and construction into the review through measurements and photographs.
