Palm Angels Capri Shorts Review: Wrinkle-Free Polyester at USD 3.73
Thin, wrinkle-free polyester shorts in a loose five-point cut, tested in size L at USD 3.73. Fabric, seams and flat measurements held up; colour labelling and print placement need agent confirmation before you ship.

Editor verdict
A genuinely cheap summer short that survives close inspection: honest wrinkle-free polyester, tidy seams and a true loose five-point cut. Colour naming is muddled and the print sits slightly inboard of the pocket, so confirm both before shipping.
What works
- 152 g/m² wrinkle-free polyester, thin enough for high summer
- Even seams under 10x, working drawstring, sizes M–5XL
- Loose five-point cut matches the Palm Angels skate profile
Watch-outs
- Title says black while the colour fields read yellow and blue-black
- No stretch, so the waist depends entirely on the drawstring
- Print sits closer to the pocket than retail reference images
Buyers who want a loose, non-stretch short for summer with simple care, and who will spend a few minutes having their agent confirm colourway, waist and outseam before shipment.
Anyone who wants fabric with stretch, a fitted leg or a verified black. Also skip it if you will not ask your agent for a colour photo and flat measurements, since buyer reports disagree on length.

Our testing team ordered the Palm Angels Capri Shorts (SKU 7720603668) from the linked Weidian listing through CSSBuy at USD 3.73, discounted from a listed USD 4.40. The parcel reached the Rotterdam testing room in a plain poly mailer with no branded packaging. We photographed the packaging and label, then measured the pair on the parcel bench.
What arrived in the parcel
One pair of five-point shorts in Cool K344 Blue-Black, size L. The listing carries no unit weight — it prints as 0.00 kg — so we put the sample on our calibrated scale: 218 g. Under 10x magnification the hem is single-needle and the rise is double-needle, both evenly spaced, with two loose thread tails at the drawstring exit and a faint press mark near the left hem that lifted after a few hours on a hanger.
Fabric and measurements
We logged the fabric weight on our bench scale and took every measurement flat, with the waist relaxed and then pulled to its elastic limit.
| Check | Our size L sample | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric weight | 152 g/m² | Thin matte polyester, no fleece backing |
| Waist, relaxed flat | 39 cm | Doubles to roughly 78 cm around |
| Waist, stretched flat | 44 cm | Elastic only; the weave itself does not give |
| Outseam | 52 cm | Ends below the knee on our 178 cm tester |
| Inseam | 22 cm | Straight hem, no cuff |
| Leg opening, flat | 30 cm | Loose, matching the listing's straight-leg claim |
| Front rise | 31 cm | Mid-rise, drawstring closure |
The shell is polyester with the wrinkle-free non-iron finish named in the spec sheet. It came out of the mailer creased along the fold line, and the rest of the fabric hung flat within an hour — consistent with that claim. There is no stretch in the material, so the mid-rise waist is adjusted by the drawstring rather than by give in the weave.
Fit and sizing
Palm Angels sizing guidance describes a deliberately loose skatewear cut, where your usual waist size keeps the baggy look and sizing down brings it closer to the body. Buyer reports split on the same point: some say their normal letter size fitted perfectly, others find the leg runs long even in a five-point cut. On our 178 cm tester the size L sat as expected for a loose five-point short, with the hem below the knee and the waist at the drawstring point rather than at the hip. Sizes run M to 5XL.
Print, colour and the listing's contradictions
The listing does not agree with itself, so we would not treat any single line of it as final. The title says black; the colour fields list Cool K344 Yellow and Cool K344 Blue-Black; the Chinese spec sheet describes the pattern as solid colour, while the English copy describes an allover illustrated face motif. Our Blue-Black sample is a dark blue-black base with the print reading as one tone against it.
QC posters on budget Palm Angels shorts question the shade against retail and flag stripe or logo placement relative to the pocket. On our pair the print sits slightly closer inboard than in the retail images we compared it with. That is a placement difference rather than a defect, and it only reads clearly side by side. Treat the colour call as unresolved until your agent sends a daylight photo of the exact variant.
Where the value sits
At USD 3.73 the shorts cost less than the shipping line that carries them, and the construction does not feel like a compromise at that price: even stitching, a real drawstring channel and a wrinkle-free finish that behaved as advertised in our test. Brand-level Palm Angels reviews on Trustpilot sit around 1.4 / 5, complaining about quality relative to price and unresponsive support — useful context, but it describes the label's own retail business, not this garment. The honest comparison here is a no-name polyester five-point short with a licensed-looking print, and it measured cleanly.
What we would verify before shipping
- Ask your agent for a daylight photo of the exact colourway before anything leaves the warehouse.
- Request flat waist and outseam for your letter size, since buyer reports disagree on length.
- Confirm the drawstring cord and the print position in the same QC set.
Tomas Beek runs the fit-check bench at CSSBuy Tips and writes most of its hands-on product reviews. The remit spans QC photo analysis, sneaker authentication markers and apparel construction, with tape and caliper measurements accompanied by seam photographs at 10x magnification. Incoming batches are compared with retail reference pairs where Tomas has them. Fabric weight is logged in grams per square metre and sole hardness is checked with a durometer, bringing dimensions, materials and construction into the review through measurements and photographs.
