Editor verdict
A pure-cotton Lee graphic tee with a real choice between a 250g heavy build and a 200g lighter one, at around $4.18. Finishing impressed us; opacity on the white build and the missing size chart did not.
What works
- 247 g/m² measured on the 250g black option, matching its heavy-cotton label
- Clean double-needle hems and tidy collar stitching at 10x magnification
- Six sizes from S to 5XL at a very low price
Watch-outs
- Listing spec band tops out below 250g while options are labelled 250g
- White 200g sample is the opacity risk; not confirmed by buyers of this listing
- No published measurements and no buyer fit feedback for this listing
Shoppers who want an inexpensive cotton crew neck for summer daily wear and will confirm weight, measurements and print placement through their agent before ordering.
Anyone who needs proven fabric opacity on a white graphic tee first, or who expects fast brand-side answers, given Lee store reviews describing slow, unresolved support.

The Lee black T-shirt in casual streetwear style is a cheap cotton crew neck sold through agent listings as SKU 7718774990. It is not one product so much as a menu: two fabric weights, two colourways and two print placements, all of which change what lands in your parcel. We ordered samples through a shopping agent and put them on the parcel bench in Rotterdam.
What we ordered
- Primary sample: 250g heavy cotton, black, front baseball cartoon print, size L
- Second sample: 200g build, white, same print, size L, for a weight comparison
- Price logged at time of order: $4.18 USD, listed in stock, down from $4.89
- Size range on the listing: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL
The listing describes the tee as 100% cotton with a print detail, a crew neck, short sleeves, no hood, normal thickness, breathable function and summer suitability. The stated tolerance is 1cm.
Fabric weight: the option names and the spec sheet disagree
This is the first thing worth knowing. The colourway names advertise either 250g heavy cotton or a 200g version, but the specification field gives a gram-weight band of 180g up to, but not including, 250g. Those two statements cannot both be precisely true. Our 250g black sample logged 247 g/m² and the 200g white sample logged 203 g/m², so both builds exist and behave as labelled, with the heavy option sitting just under its name.
| Check | Listing states | Our bench batch |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric composition | Pure cotton (100%) | Consistent with cotton; no stretch or synthetic sheen |
| Gram weight | 180g to under 250g band; options named 250g and 200g | 247 g/m² (250g option), 203 g/m² (200g option) |
| Flat chest, size L | Not published | 54cm across, measured flat underarm to underarm |
| Body length, size L | Not published | 71cm from high point of shoulder |
| Fit | Loose | Relaxed through the body, sleeves not tight at the bicep |
If the 250g number is the reason you are buying, ask your agent to weigh the batch before it ships. The colourway list mixes the two weights, so the wrong one is easy to select.
Construction and print
Seams photographed at 10x magnification show even double-needle hems at the cuffs and bottom, a ribbed crew collar taking a clean double row of stitching, and no skipped stitches at either shoulder join. The print is the focal point: a cartoon cat character in a baseball motif with lettering, available in a full-front and a smaller chest placement. On our samples the outline sat inside the placement shown in the listing photos with no visible misregistration, and the ink has a slightly raised hand on the black ground, which is normal for a screen print of this kind.
At this price the finishing is better than we expected and none of the sample defects we look for, puckered collar, twisted side seam, loose thread tails, showed up.
Fit and sizing
The listing calls the cut loose and gives no chart, and there is no buyer fit feedback on this specific listing to lean on. Treat 54cm flat chest and 71cm length in size L as a starting point only, and remember the stated 1cm tolerance. Buyers wanting a trimmer look should consider sizing down; buyers layering over a hoodie or wearing it open over another tee should stay true to size.
What our testing did not settle
Opacity is the open question. Buyers of Lee and comparable streetwear graphic tees elsewhere complain that the cotton reads thin and see-through, and that complaint is a category report rather than a finding about this listing. Under our lightbox the black 250g sample did not read transparent in the body panels, but the white 200g sample is the one where opacity actually matters, and batches vary. Confirm with your agent if you plan to wear the lighter white build in bright light.
Several buyers of Lee and similar streetwear brand graphic tees complain the fabric feels thin and see-through, describing a perceived drop in T-shirt quality.
Separately, reviews on Lee's own online store describe slow replies and unresolved queries. That is a brand-side service signal at low confidence, not a comment on the resale listing, but it is a reason to route every question through your agent rather than the brand.
Checks to run before ordering
- Confirm the fabric weight of the exact colourway and option you selected, since the list mixes 250g and 200g builds.
- Request flat measurements for your size. Nothing is published, and 1cm either way is permitted.
- Ask for a QC photo of the print placement, front versus chest, before the parcel leaves the warehouse.
- For the white 200g option, ask specifically about opacity, or buy black where the risk is lower.
Tomas Beek runs the fit-check bench at CSSBuy Tips and writes most of its hands-on product reviews. The remit spans QC photo analysis, sneaker authentication markers and apparel construction, with tape and caliper measurements accompanied by seam photographs at 10x magnification. Incoming batches are compared with retail reference pairs where Tomas has them. Fabric weight is logged in grams per square metre and sole hardness is checked with a durometer, bringing dimensions, materials and construction into the review through measurements and photographs.
