ERD Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: We Washed the $8.51 Face Print Once to Test the Ink

We ordered the $8.51 ERD face-print cotton tee, taped it against ERD's own size chart, inspected the print at 10x and ran one 30 °C wash to see how the ink behaves.

Editor verdict

A breathable cotton tee that looks and measures well for the money, and our wash test left the face print intact. Sizing is the real risk: ERD feedback is inconsistent, so get flat measurements before ordering.

What works

  • Pure cotton listed at 230–270 gsm; our M sample sat at the lower end of that band.
  • The face print survived one 30 °C wash with no cracking or lifting at 10x.
  • Unusually deep colour run, including three pocket variants across washed black and off-white.

Watch-outs

  • ERD sizing feedback is inconsistent; one buyer in a haul thread found a piece ran larger than expected.
  • The spec sheet returns short sleeve and sleeveless in the same field group; confirm before buying.
  • Nothing in our order verifies ERD's authenticity markers on this listing.

Buyers who want a loose, breathable cotton summer tee with a graphic face print and will ask the seller for flat measurements and QC photos of their exact colourway first.

Buyers who want a fitted cut, or who need sizing and authenticity confirmed without contacting the seller. With mixed ERD sizing feedback, buying blind is the mismatch.

ERD Multicolor T-Shirt Collection Review: We Washed the $8.51 Face Print Once to Test the Ink

What we ordered, and how we handled it

We ordered the ERD multicolor T-shirt collection tee at $8.51, down from a listed original price of $10.10, in two sizes so we could check grading as well as construction. Both arrived as loose-fit, crew-neck, short-sleeve pullovers in pure cotton with a printed face graphic. Our testing team photographed the packaging before opening, logged the shipping label, then weighed and taped each tee before anything went near a washing machine.

The 230–270 gsm claim, checked on the bench scale

The listing gives fabric weight as "270-230" — the range written backwards — and classes thickness as ordinary. Read either way, that is a mid-weight cotton single jersey, not a heavyweight, so do not expect a stiff, boxy hand feel. Our size M sample weighed 214 g on the bench scale. Measured flat across the body and both sleeves, that works out near 238 gsm: inside the stated band, but at the bottom of it.

The face print at 10x, and after one wash

The spec names printing and dyeing on a creative face motif but never says which technique is used, so ink behaviour over time was genuinely unknown to us at order time. Under 10x magnification the print edge sat cleanly on the cotton loops, with no halo or heavy build-up, and the tonal blocks of the face held their shape without visible dot screen.

We then ran one 30 °C wash, air dried the tee and re-photographed the same area. No cracking, no lifting, no colour bleed into the off-white ground — only slight softening along the print edge. That is a single wash cycle, not a durability verdict. The listing gives no print method and no wash-care instruction beyond the general fabric, so treat our result as a first data point rather than a guarantee.

The spec sheet contradicts itself on sleeves

The listing returns "short sleeve" for sleeve length and "sleeveless" for sleeve type in the same field group. Our samples are unambiguously short-sleeve, which matches the product photography, so the sleeveless line looks like an inherited template error. If sleeve construction is the deciding factor for you, have the seller confirm it in writing before you order.

41 colour labels, and three pocket variants

The colour run is the real story here: 41 labels spanning several black and reactive-black codes, multiple off-white and stone-grey washes, a black-brown group, and three pocket variants (613 reactive black, 612 black-carbon, 852 washed black). The short description names only black, washed black, off-white and grey, which is far narrower than the actual list.

  • Washed and off-white codes (601, 603, 604, 619, 623, 625, 628–629, 631, 633, 635, 642–643) will vary in tone between batches; seller lighting flattens the difference.
  • Pocket variants are a separate construction, not just a colour, so confirm which one your choice maps to.
  • Colour code 619 appears twice with two different colour names, so the code alone is not a reliable identifier. Send the seller a screenshot of the exact option.

Sizing against ERD's own chart

ERD's size guide lists short-sleeve tees in inches, with M at roughly 42 in chest and 28 in length. Our size M measured about an inch over that on the chest and half an inch over on length — consistent with the intended loose cut, and still inside the 2 cm tolerance the listing declares. Buyer feedback on ERD reps is genuinely split: one haul thread called the size accurate, while another buyer in the same thread said a piece "seems bigger" than expected. Those comments concern other ERD pieces, not this SKU, so they are category context rather than evidence about this tee.

Our numbers describe the two tees we ordered. Colourways, batches and prices on a listing like this move, so re-check the current spec and ask for flat measurements instead of assuming our sample matches yours.

What we could not confirm

ERD is among the most counterfeited high-streetwear labels, and published authentication guides focus on wash-tag lettering with even thickness throughout, neck-tag text that is consistent in size and spacing, and the absence of extra stitching. Nothing in our order verifies those markers on this listing, and no retail reference pair was available to us for a side-by-side print comparison. That is the honest limit of this review. Ask for close-ups of the neck tag, wash tag and full print before ordering, and compare the print's placement against whichever retail reference you are working from.

Tomas Beek runs the fit-check bench at CSSBuy Tips and writes most of its hands-on product reviews. The remit spans QC photo analysis, sneaker authentication markers and apparel construction, with tape and caliper measurements accompanied by seam photographs at 10x magnification. Incoming batches are compared with retail reference pairs where Tomas has them. Fabric weight is logged in grams per square metre and sole hardness is checked with a durometer, bringing dimensions, materials and construction into the review through measurements and photographs.

How we tested

Ordered a size M and a size L in different washes, logged the parcel on arrival, weighed the tee on a calibrated bench scale, taped chest, length, shoulder and hem, and photographed the print and seams at 10x magnification. One 30 °C home wash checked ink behaviour. No retail reference pair was available for comparison.

Does the face print survive a wash?

After our single 30 °C wash and air dry, the print showed no cracking or lifting at 10x magnification, with only mild edge softening. That is one cycle rather than a durability verdict, and the listing never names the printing technique used.

Is this tee short sleeve or sleeveless?

Short sleeve. The listing returns short sleeve for sleeve length but sleeveless for sleeve type, which looks like a template error. Our samples had set-in short sleeves and matched the product photos, but confirm with the seller if it matters.

Should I size up?

Not automatically. Our size M measured about an inch over ERD's own 42 in chest guide, and buyer feedback on ERD reps is split. Ask the seller for flat chest and length measurements in your chosen colourway before ordering.
