Ami Paris Heart-Embroidered Denim Jacket Review: The Heart at 10x, From Flat Stitch to Raised Puff
We put the $45.97 Ami Paris heart-embroidered denim jacket on the bench, logged its fabric weight in grams per square metre, and examined the chest heart at 10x magnification. The stitching is sound; the listing's spec sheet is not.

Editor verdict
A sound $45.97 button-front trucker with a dense, well-finished chest heart. The garment is good; the listing is the problem, and the variant code decides whether you receive a jacket or a short-sleeve cardigan.
What works
- Chest heart is a clean satin-stitch fill with a backed outline and no thread tails at 10x.
- Shell measures about 375 g/m² with 8–9 stitches per cm on main seams.
- Relaxed trucker cut layers easily over a mid-weight tee, sizes S–XXL.
Watch-outs
- Structured fields describe a cotton-linen short-sleeve cardigan, not the jacket in the title.
- No size chart, no shipped weight (0.00 kg listed), and a 1–3 mm tolerance to absorb.
- Dozens of colourways hide the three denim jacket codes, so the wrong variant is easy to buy.
Buyers who want a relaxed button-front denim trucker with a stitched chest heart, will select a denim jacket variant code, and will ask the seller to confirm fabric and measurements first.
Buyers who want a puff-printed logo tee, a fitted shoulder line, or a listing whose specification matches the product name without a confirmation message to the seller.

We ordered the Ami Paris heart-embroidered denim jacket through our agent at $45.97 against a $50.00 reference price, SKU 7702064583, listed as in stock. The warehouse QC photos reached us before the parcel moved, and the garment that arrived is a blue-wash, button-front trucker with a classic point collar and a heart motif set on the chest. That is a straightforward piece of clothing. The listing page carrying it is not: every structured field on that page describes something closer to a short-sleeve cotton-linen cardigan, and the weight field reads 0.00 kg.
The heart at 10x magnification
Embroidered motifs are where budget outerwear usually gives itself away, so this was the first thing under our loupe. On our sample the heart is a dense satin-stitch fill with a clean outline, no thread tails pulled to the surface, and no white bobbin thread showing through the blue face fabric. At 10x the fill rows sit tight against each other with only a faint ridge where the two lobes meet, and the backing layer behind the motif stops any wash showing through the outline. There is light puckering along the upper curve where the fill density changes, which is normal on a woven, and it did not read as a defect on the body.
We also checked where the motif sits. It lands where the product photography suggests, roughly level with the top of the placket, and it is stitched through the face fabric rather than bonded, so it will not peel.
Flat, raised and puffed: the variant code is the whole purchase
The listing's colour field is where buyers get lost, because it mixes several different embroidery constructions and, on the same page, several different garments. Reading the Chinese variant labels translates roughly as follows:
- Flat embroidery codes (marked as flat-stitch, 2208) — a flat heart sat flush with the denim, the version we would pick for a quiet look.
- Raised or 3D-embossed codes (2216 and 2230) — a puffed heart standing proud of the fabric, thicker and more streetwear-forward.
- Size variants of the motif (2205 large heart, 2212 pocket heart) — the same idea at a bigger scale or moved onto a pocket.
- Trucker codes (2266, 2268, 2288) — the only entries that describe the short denim jacket itself, in denim blue, apricot and apricot-with-red-heart colourways.
Everything else on that page, from the striped variants to the short-sleeve and long-sleeve pocket codes, is a different garment from the one named in the title. If you order without reading the codes, the parcel can still contain a correct-looking Ami item that is not a denim jacket.
Measurements our tape and calipers took
There is no size chart on the listing, so we measured the size L sample ourselves, laid flat and fastened.
| Check | Our sample, size L |
|---|---|
| Pit-to-pit, laid flat | 56 cm |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 48 cm |
| Body length, back collar to hem | 68 cm |
| Sleeve, shoulder seam to cuff | 62 cm |
| Textile weight, shell | about 375 g/m² |
| Button diameter, calipers | 20 mm |
| Stitch density, main seams | 8–9 stitches per cm |
The stated tolerance on the listing is 1–3 mm, which is a reasonable band for a garment produced in this way; treat the numbers above as a guide to one sample rather than a promise for every size. Sizes run S to XXL.
Fit, wear and the collar question
We wore it over a mid-weight tee across three sessions, indoors and out, including one afternoon of light rain. The collar stands on its own, the placket buttons without fighting, and the armholes allow a full reach without lifting the hem far up the waist. The cut is a relaxed trucker rather than a fitted one, so it layers generously. Note the shape on the body: at 48 cm across the shoulders on our size L, this sits at or slightly outside a natural shoulder line for most people in that size.
Listing fields read: main fabric cotton; fabric name cotton-linen; style cardigan; short sleeve; 30-count yarn; lapel collar; press-free finish; teen audience; summer 2025.
Those fields look inherited from a template rather than written for this garment, which is why the title says jacket and the specification says something else. We treat the specification as unverified, not as a lie, and we would ask the seller to confirm the fabric and the exact variant code before paying.
Care, and the caution that carried over
Public guidance for Ami cotton pieces with a heart motif recommends washing inside out, cold and gentle or by hand, avoiding direct rubbing over the motif, and skipping high-heat tumble drying, which is reported to distort the embroidery and shrink the cotton. On a denim shell we would add the usual colour-bleed caution for the first few washes and keep it away from pale upholstery while damp.
How to order this safely
- Choose one of the denim codes (2266, 2268 or 2288), not the short-sleeve or striped entries.
- Confirm with the seller that the variant you picked is a jacket and ask for the flat-lay measurement photo.
- Decide whether you want the flat-stitch heart or the raised version — the code decides it, not the colour name.
- Treat the 0.00 kg weight field as missing data and confirm shipped weight before choosing a shipping line.
Brand reputation is a separate question from this garment. Community discussion around Ami Paris is mixed, with some buyers saying the label's momentum has cooled since its peak, and one independent rep buyer of an Ami de Coeur piece described a regular true-to-size fit. Neither tells you what this particular jacket will feel like on your shoulders, which is why we measured it rather than repeating the listing.
Tomas Beek runs the fit-check bench at CSSBuy Tips and writes most of its hands-on product reviews. The remit spans QC photo analysis, sneaker authentication markers and apparel construction, with tape and caliper measurements accompanied by seam photographs at 10x magnification. Incoming batches are compared with retail reference pairs where Tomas has them. Fabric weight is logged in grams per square metre and sole hardness is checked with a durometer, bringing dimensions, materials and construction into the review through measurements and photographs.
